To help them adapt to different environments, they require training from a young age\u2014ranging from the use of various assistive tools to complex orientation and mobility exercises. These trainings enable them to adapt to the community, and every step is part of their journey to overcome personal limitations.<\/p><p>Recently, we visited Ebenezer New Hope School, the only special school in Hong Kong that provides holistic education for students with both visual impairment and intellectual disabilities. At the school, teachers and a medical care team (including nurses, physiotherapists, and occupational therapists) work together to promote personalized education plans, designing balanced and appropriate learning programs, professional rehabilitation training, and even residential services for individual students.
